The Party Isn’t The Same
I used to be a democrat, but now I’ve ceased to be.
I didn’t leave the party, they turned away from me.
They used to stand for values that I think are true;
Like liberty and freedom, but they no longer do.
They want to take away my right to rear my family,
In the way the Bible teaches; that’s not democracy.
They say that unborn children have no right to live;
God says it’s His prerogative, a life to take or give.
They’ve raised my taxes often and want to raise them more,
Because reducing government is something they abhor.
They’re telling stories that, I think, are totally unfair,
When they scare the seniors who are on Medicare.
They want to load the country up with those on welfare rolls,
To try to garner them support from the voters at the polls.
They can’t quite seem to understand that people fare the best
When private industry is free to satisfy their quest.
I just can’t understand how this party changed so much.
They used to be the party who could feel the people’s touch.
Now it seems they can’t believe that common people dare
To think we can make it without Big Brother’s care.
Yes, I was once a Democrat, but now I cannot be.
They don’t espouse the values of people just like me.
They’ve reversed their policies; it is truly a shame;
The party isn’t democrat; they only kept the name.
