I am an old codger. I popped into this world a few years before World War II. Done a little, seen a lots. But I’m not senile –yet. The reason I have put this site together is because I am highly peed off about what this country (and the world) has become. If you noticed the picture in the page heading, you’ll see the history of this country in one shot. It was made up of people who worked for their lively-hood. And most made their lives better.
I was born and raised in a small southeast Alabama town. Thanks to my parents for making college available to me and for giving me the encouragement to get me to go. Plus, I had the advantage of growing up among the ‘greatest generation’, the veterans of World War II. I started my career in Atlanta and ended up being somewhat of a pioneer in the IT (that means computers) field. I eventually ended up in a large small town in southwest Georgia which ended up being a great place to raise my kids.
My religious life has been up and down. I grew up a very faithful church-goer. That doesn’t mean that I was an absolute angel. I got into my share of devilment, but most of the time I didn’t get caught. Once I left home, I slacked way off on the church bit and stayed that way for a number of years. But after the kids came along, I snapped back into the religious life. But after they grew up, I fell by the wayside again. In recent years, I have been trying to get back into faithfulness. I never lost my faith, I just wasn’t very faithful. I have seen what God has done for others, so I know that he is there for all of us if we will just turn to him. Plus he has been very good to me all my life. I, so far, have not had any great life crises. But I realize that could change at ant time.
I haven’t been a saint. I have done a few things I am not too proud of. None of these were criminal or ,hopefully, caused any harm to others. I still like to occasionally do things that tend to push the envelope. A man needs to sometimes do things that instill a little fear in himself. It assures one that the adrenaline still flows and that I am still alive..
That’s me in a nutshell. All 70+ years wrapped up in 4 little paragraphs. If you would like to know more, just shoot me a question at herb@herbsez.org. If it’s not too embarrassing, I’ll try to answer it.
